Must Try Food in Bintan

Well-known for its beautiful beaches and fresh seafood, whether you're here on a family trip or a romantic couple retreat, there's plenty of things and good food in Bintan to help you unwind and recharge!

Bintan offers a wide variety of delicacies for your gastronomical adventure! From the familiar satays and otak otak to the traditional ones like kueh lapis and nasi uduk (lemongrass scented coconut rice). Here are some famous spots well-liked by both locals and tourists!

Pujasera Food Centre

One of the first popular stops when visiting Bintan is probably here. Pujasera Food Centre is located about a short 10-minute drive from the main ferry terminal. You can find a wide variety of food at affordable prices to kickstart your foodie adventure travel!

One of the highly recommended food here is the nasi padang from the stall - Lamak Basamo. It is served in the traditional hidang style where dishes are laid out in individual plates like a mini buffet spread and you only pay for what you consume, something that we find a unique experience.

The Kelong Seafood Restaurant

Seafood feast is an essential when in Bintan. Sitting on stilts with a fantastic seaview in Nirwana Gardens, The Kelong Seafood Restaurant offers some of the freshest seafood with a cosy ambience!

The crabs are a must-try when you come here. From the all-time favourite black pepper crab to the uniquely flavoured salted egg and honey crab. Another highly recommended signature dish are the gong-gongs!

Once your tummies have been satisfied, you can then head over to the Calypso Floating Bar just next door for some chilling. With a perfect view of the sunset, it's just a perfect place to hang out and enjoy your holidays!

Rimba Jaya Market

Rimba Jaya is one of the most popular spots among locals and tourists to visit after sunset. This night market is a paradise for every food lover. It's a mix between a pasar malam and hawker centre, with plenty of food stalls to hop around and delights to choose from.

Other than a wide selection of delicious seafood like oyster omelette and grilled sotong. Another popular dish we recommend is the pisang goreng keju, deep-fried slices of banana deep coated in cheese, sweetened condensed milk and chocolate sauce.

Martabak Bangka 1889

You have to try the popular Indonesian sweet snack - martabak manis at least once when you visit Bintan. One of the best places to find this is at the Martabak Bangka 1889 food stand in Tanjung Pinang.

Martabak manis is a thick and fluffy pancake that’s stuffed with different kinds of fillings that your heart desires - salty shaved cheese, chocolate sprinklers, crushed peanuts or sesame seed. The pancake is then lashed with drizzles of condensed milk before serve.

Warung Yeah!

One of Bintan’s best rated eateries that’s well-known for its traditional Indonesian delights, Warung Yeah! Is located near Plaza Lagoi and Lagoi Beach.

Try the Ayam Bakar, chicken charcoal-grilled to perfection with its caramelized and glistering exterior coated in kecap manis (sweet soy sauce). Another must try would be Warung Yeah’s Tahu Telor - tofu egg omelette Indonesian-style, crispy delight that’s sweet, sour and spicy.
